Notes is not an IPTC field either. I've experimented with this over
several years and what you get is what you've already discovered. IPTC
Caption imports into the Legacy 'Description' field.

Since you mention that printing from Legacy doesn't suit you, my
suggestion would be to stick with software that uses IPTC properly and
use its print options instead.
