No matter where you put the information, the only part that's going to import into Legacy is the Caption into the Description box. Why are you so hell bent on getting all your photo information into Legacy? Legacy is not user-friendly in this matter, it's not designed properly for it and it's not going to help you out.
Unless you want to do your photo annotation twice, and this can be work that goes on forever depending on the amount of photos you have, I would suggest that you follow standard practice for using the IPTC standard. If you put information in the wrong boxes you're likely going to end up, somewhere along the road of your education, wanting to move it all to the right boxes. Adobe Photoshop is not user-friendly either when it comes to the 'source' or 'copyright' because it has to be entered through the Editor/File Info one at a time, while the keywords are entered through the Organizer. It's the stupidest layout I've ever seen. PSE is good for adding batch keywords (tags) and maybe captions but after that I'd quit. There's a free program called XnView that at least has all the proper IPTC fields available for entering data in the right places. And will be compatible with other IPTC-reading software you may run into. In the meantime, I recommend you do something like that instead of trying to contort your methods to suit Legacy. God willing, Legacy may catch up someday. ------------------- JL http://www.jgen.ws/jlog On 7/2/2010 5:32 AM, Susan Broadbooks wrote: > What I will try as an alternative is to put all my photo notes into the > caption section in Photoshop and then at least I will be able to move > all that information (like source of the photo) into Legacy without > having to type it twice.
