IMHO there is one area where Legacy is really lacking and that is in document management/indexing. Two or three months ago, there was a short thread regarding a piece of software which does precisely that for genealogists. (Brian, if you contact me off-list I'll tell you more about it. Probably not fair to name it again on this list). What it does is allow you to enter the details of a document, use an indexing system of your own devising, and then make links to all the people named in that document. This allows you, amongst many other things, to 1. See at a glance the people attached to a given document, and 2. Instantly list every document to which a given person is connected. Because data entry is done on templates, there is no need to copy and paste as the information is applied to each person automatically with editing as necessary. I think this maybe what you are looking for Brian and I wish Legacy would incorporate the concept because, due to lack of funding and being a one person operation, the program I speak of is in danger of fading away in the future, though for now it remains viable.

Hi,I Have tried all of you suggestions and they all find a list of People, which can link me to an events associated people,to enter data the way I want, But Jenny'sway is closer to what I want, that is,having a list of people who are connected to a source scan, say a census record listing a family,so I can copy and past the new event data to all family members listed.Sorry its taken so many messages to explain what I mean, not wasted replies, you all taught me something. Thanks,Brian Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp No virus found in this incoming message.
