If the OP is concerned about being locked into Legacy's database format, then the only option is to also backup as a GEDCOM (notice I said "also"). And if the OP is concerned about being locked in to Legacy, then maybe he shouldn't be using SW sources or anything that won't transfer via GEDCOM (the OP didn't say he was using SW). Granted, a GEDCOM backup should only be used to restore to a Legacy database as a last resort. -- Dennis Kowallek (LTools) http://zippersoftware.com/ltools http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ltools Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
