I was taught many years (literally decades) ago, before personal genealogy programs like Legacy existed, that one should not use Co. (or County), but I think locations look silly, and confusing, without it, so I've used Co. consistently in recent years.
I think, but am not certain, that the reason I was taught this is because of the computer system in use at the time for the IGI. (I'm not LDS but was taught by people who were). I remember a discussion on a professional genealogists list a year or two ago where most participants said they do use Co. I've never had Legacy complain when I do it.
