Elizabeth, I have used Legacy since version 3 and I am now using version 7. I have always updated without any problem. I do have one computer that is not on the internet so I simply download the full install file of Legacy on one of my computers that has internet access, put the install file on a memory stick, and then install the newest version from the memory stick on the computer that has no internet access.
You may have configured your Legacy to automatically check for updates which would complain if it does not have internet connectivity.
