Ron,

I'm not sure that it is relevent, but Legacy does not like jpeg, try
changing the extension to jpg.

Hi Richard and Dede,
I do use 'files' instead of 'pictures' as it then opens up another program
to display the images, whereas using 'pictures' you have to close the file
to get back to the main program, which is a pain when you are copying info
from a census sheet. The files I am having difficulty with are jpegs, the
djvu images work fine (standard images versus enhanced images in
FindMyPast).
I have been into the census folder and picked out a jpeg image, used opened
with... Windows Picture Viewer, Paint, etc, and click on the 'always use
this program'. I would have thought that that would have made the selection
become the default, but I still cannot view the jpegs in 'files'
This has only occurred since I installed Nero MediaPlayer Hub recently,
which is quite a large program. I suppose the obvious thing to do would be
delete Nero and see what happens.
Any more ideas?. I'm using Windows 7, but the images were displaying ok,
before Nero!
Regards
Ron

Ron,

I had the same problem when I went to Windows 7. I understand why you
use Files, rather than Picture, because your census images are
probably pdf files and that's how they must be attached. I downloaded
Foxit Reader (you could also use Adobe, or any other free PDF reader).
Problem solved for me. Hope it works for you.
