Can someone explain to me the purpose or even the need for geo-coding
now that Legacy has mapping? If I'm missing something I'd like to
know what it is but it just seems useless to me.

I enter full addresses (when I have them) in the location field - that
includes cemetery names. Like Ron, Jenny and many others, I sort the
location list in reverse. When I enter a new location I check the map
to see if the pin is where it should be, move it if it isn't and go on
my way. I never go to the geo-coding at all (and almost all of my
locations are USA). My experience is that the more info in the
location field the better job the mapping feature does in pinpointing
the place. Often a cemetery name along with town and state will find
the exact location of a cemetery without even having a street address.

It seems to be a waste of the mapping feature to use the 4 field
location format. Why would I want to plot a location to just the
central point of a town when I can pinpoint the exact street location
and maybe see the actual house (if it's still standing) in street
view? Why would I want to just plot the central point of a town when I
can pinpoint the exact location of a cemetery? I just don't understand
why so many people don't want to take full advantage of mapping but
maybe I just don't understand the value of geo-coding. Seriously, what
am I missing?
