I have the Version 4 premium edition, I guess now called the deluxe
version. Will this work in MS 7?
Can I install this and work on it and later go to Deluxe Ver 7.4

Arnie,

If you want to use Version 4, you need to go here to download it:

If you want to update to a newer version (we are up to Version 7.4), go
here for the free Standard Version or the paid Deluxe version:

Arnie,

You first need to install Legacy, from the Legacy Website, onto your
Laptop.
Having done so, following Legacy's instructions to install on the C Drive,
connect your external drive to your laptop and use File>Restore Family
File
to get your back-up into Legacy and then Save to the C:\Legacy\Data\
folder.

Subject: [LegacyUG] What do I do now

I have been using Legacy 4.0 and Legacy Charting Companion for a long
time now on my XP PC.. This version has been serving me very well as my
family
tree is not that complex, yet. But growing. However, I am the only one in
my family doing and keeping up with the Family Tree as it evolves. I just
love the way Legacy presents the data and the types of reports available.
(As opposed to an other program I used)
I just bought a new Lap Top with Microsoft 7. I want to keep using Legacy
and transfer all my data the new Lap Top. What must I do first , second,
third, etc. Do I need to up date my Legacy? Probably. Then what?
I do have an external Hard Drive where I back up Legacy.
Also, some times, I read that to fix something, users are advised to
uninstall Legacy and then reinstall. When the reinstall is done how does
all
the years of data and pictures get back to the file?
As you can guess I am not very computer smart and just had my 80th
birthday. If someone can help, please keep it simple for a remarkably
simple guy
who still can learn.

Thanks,
Arnie in Texas
