You should keep both and not delete your own information.  Or you may want to 
keep the new information in a separate Legacy file until you have researched 
the new information carefully.



I’m very picky about information I’ve gotten from trees because you don’t know 
where this information came from.  It could have been picked from a number of 
trees without sources making it difficult to verify the information.

Is there an easy way to completely replace a family line?  A relative sent me a 
GEDCOM file with very detailed information on my mother's family.  I already 
have information on my mother's family, but want to replace my information with 
what is contained in this GEDCOM file.  What is the easiest way to accomplish 
this?  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
