It's good you've got a way around the issue. However... If you've not entered addresses for any individuals, then it should be a problem for every individual - not just living ones. Or, perhaps Legacy has some smarts to only prepopulate the address names for living people ?!?!?! Odd!
Does 'regular expressions' mean anything to you? If so, you could always purge unwanted bits or just massage the data in the GEDCOM before adding to FTM.
