Sherry/All Let me illustrate this issue: I assign "FIle IDs" to all my hardcopy source documents and photos. I update the File ID in the appropriate location in Legacy for each person (RIN) it applies to. I have a family file of nearly 10,000 people.
I want to know what RIN (who) has File ID "PXXX" assigned to it. In other words when I pull out a letter from my file containing the FIle ID "L1234", I want to know who in my database has "L1234" been recorded against. It could be one person (one RIN) or it could be dozens. Also, when I pull up my old great Aunt Agnes Bagadonuts (RIN 567) I want to know all the 'File IDs' she has assigned against her. Would seem a genealogy program should provide this capability. Perhaps it does and I just can't seem to find it. Or, alternatively, maybe there's a simple way using MS-Access to generate these reports. This capabilty I'm sure would benefit a HUGE number of users who make use of the File ID field in this manner. I am aware of the Name List/Print functions as they apply to "User IDs" and other fields. I don't need help with a "UserID". A "User ID" is not a "File ID". Please re-read my original email.
