This helped me solve a similar "missing location" problem. I could find NO 
event for the individual with the given location, including marriage. But
when I went to the mapping screen, selected the odd-ball location from the 
location list, and then hovered over the pin on the map, it showed that the
location was associated with the death of his mother! So it was not in the 
individual's event list at all, it was in his mother's record. But it would
show up if I did a timeline for him.
