I've always been against storing any data files on the C drive mainly because
if I have to do a system restore, which I do occasionally, I might forget I
have data files there.

All my Legacy data files/images are stored on an external drive that is backed
up separately to discs, online, and Ghost. The C drive is a terrible place to
store any data files whether Legacy prefers it or not. I have never had any
problems with it being stored elsewhere.

Putting any data files on a system drive is asking for trouble. I would
recommend frequent backups if anyone does so. The first to go on most systems
is usually the system drive because most new computers use the cheapest quality
drives they can find. I usually replace them when I buy a new computer along
with all the other cheap components they put in there because they have a high
failure rate. Especially store brand components. Also, viruses usually reside
on the system drive and it is targeted first before any other drives.

Just my two cents.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] restoring a back up

That's not correct. The Multimedia backup *does* include all the files
linked to in Legacy.

The links to where the files were stored at the time you linked them
to Legacy are in the Family File itself.

It makes it a heck of a lot easier if you have the files in their
respective sub-folders in the c:\Legacy folder. The paths to the
Documents or LIbraries folder will differ between computers.

Sherry
