Right click on the "in" field label in front of the field you wish to enter the location.
This is explained in the Help file for the Individual Information and Marriage Information edit windows or the Add or Edit Event windows - just click on the Help button in the window to access the Help topic about the features in a particular window. Dates are also memorized.
