It does indeed create a marriage record with an Unknown father, but it does not create an individual record of the father and no RIN is created. That is what I wanted.

The status of the "Marriage" could be never married and then when and if you find out who the father is, you have a place to enter the information. Why would you not want a RIN for the child's father, as he is a member of this family group even if others believe it or not? What surname does this child use, of which person is the sure name from?
