I use Carbonite for backup of most file types. I do not use it for large photos, video clips, and music that are in folders that change infrequently and usually in batches (like after a trip). I worry that these files would bog down the automated backup process. I manually back them up to external hard drives. Reduced pictures used for Legacy are stored elsewhere and are included in the Carbonite backup set.
I have not had to restore a Legacy database from Carbonite, but it would be very simple. I can easily see/open/download all my backed up files from any computer connected to the Internet. (Even from my smart phone, although it can only open certain file types.) Storing an occasional copy of the online backup set to a local medium is worth considering. Who knows what disasters might befall the Carbonite company or their servers. Or the Internet, for that matter. Hopefully such disasters would not coincide with a failure of my local hard drive, though. If so . . . Have you ever had to restore a Legacy database from Carbonite? Did it work well? Do you use a medium in addition to Carbonite (CD, external hard drive, etc.) or rely only on the service?
