Brian,

You should never have Dropbox open on two machines at the same time, and I
imagine that this applies to all sync. programs. In effect this means that if
Legacy files are being stored in Dropbox then Legacy must not be open on more
than one machine.

This information is included in the help files for Dropbox. BTW. a contested
file, which is what is created in Dropbox when two files are open, is shown as
such and the opportunity is given to select which to delete.

A word of caution to all, this is from experience, I use Dropbox and Windows
Live Mesh, both good however this scenario happened to me , I have a computer
(A) and Laptop(B) I updated the data on (A) which then synced with the cloud!
Logged onto (B) which then updated its data to the cloud and overwrote what I
had just done, (luckily had a backup), the issue I found is that neither of
these 2 products! Give the option of which way to sync the data assuming that
you want to upload from your machine, unless there is a small print somewhere
that I can’t see.

For just backing up from say a backup folder absolutely brilliant.

I also use SugarSync. If you change a file while offline, it will sync the
file the next time you connect. It also works as a backup, although I keep
multiple backups, both on-site and cloud-based. For simplicity's sake, I moved
all of my files connected to Legacy (multi-media, etc.) into a single folder
within SugarSync's Magic Briefcase folder, so all of my most essential files
are kept in sync. Dropbox will also work, it you can live with its 2GB limit
(I couldn't).

some internet connection issues in various locations on my current trip.]

Any of the cloud file sharing programs, like DropBox or Windows SkyDrive for
example, would work. Be sure to keep a copy of the file on your computer. Sugar
Sync does that, not sure on all the others but Windows SkyDrive does not as far
as I know.
