Hi Lew

Regarding question 1) I have done this and it has been fairly straightforward.
You might like to see this thread in the archives to see a method of converting
the sources using MS Access.

I can't help with Q 2.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Sourcewriter to Basic

I have decided to stick with the Basic format and convert my
Sourcewriter sources back to Basic.
I have two questions: (1): Would there be a problem converting
Sourcewriter to Basic?

While I am in this process, I decided I would try to efficiently
re-name my sources. For instance, I have a lumped master source
called Birth Index. I have decided to split it down by states. In
other words I am creating several more sources; Birth Index
California, Birth index California 1905-1995, Birth Index
Massachusetts, Birth Index Colorado, etc.

Since the lumped master source “Birth Index” contains a mixture of all
of the above, I need to move the applicable sources into their
applicable master sources. The problem is attaching the individual
source details to the proper individual. There has to be an easier
way than opening the detail in the old source and copying and pasting
the info into the detail of the new source. It takes several
operations to copy each field.

Question number (2): Is there an easy way to transfer the source
details without having to copy each field separately?

I would welcome comments and/or suggestions… Thanks
Lew
