I downloaded & played with the synchronisation software for a few minutes, but it will only synchronise with a paid-for web service at the moment - and I'm not paying to experiment!
What is needed is an updated version of the gedcom file transfer format which will handle extra information. I think that gedcom is open source (but stand to be corrected here) and no-one has had the impetus to update it.
