Jill,
I have had a similar problem, not with Legacy, where I could not uninstall
software.

I am making the assumption that your Family trees are located in
"C:\Legacy\Data" and that all your user setting are in the C:\Legacy\*.USR
files.

Before starting this, copy everything in the folder "C:\Legacy". The simple
way to do this is to open up an Explorer window and located the folder on the
"C" drive. Single left click the folder [to select it] and then Press Ctl+C
[Windows Copy shortcut] followed by Ctl+V {windows paste shortcut]. This will
create a folder called "Legacy - Copy" which will be an extact copy. This is
just in case there are files in addition to the USR and FDR files that you may
want to keep.

The way I worked around the problem was to install the software over the top of
the old software. I then immediately rebooted the PC and then uninstalled (the
uninstall.log will be created with this second installation over the top of the
old).

Reboot again then delete the folder "C:\Legacy" [Don't do this if you have not
copied the folder as above otherwise you could permanently loose your user
settings and family trees]

I then installed properly.

At this point you may want to copy all of your USR files and you family trees
back to the recreated "C:\Legacy" folder
[Let me know if you need any help with this step] and the contents of
"C:\Legacy - Copy\Data" into "C:\Legacy\Data".

I would not remove the "C:\Legacy - Copy" folder until you have used Legacy
without problems for at least 6 months. The reason I say this is that you may
have created Chart / Report / Gedcom export files that you may want.

We can discuss this in more detail offline if you wish.

Subject: [LegacyUG] "Error 75: Path/File access error".........AND ERROR 3204

Hi everyone,
I have had a computer crash in the last week, a Trojan I believe, and now have
trouble with Legacy. I have windows XP.These are my problems:-

(1) : When I try to open Legacy 7.5 from the start menu, this is the message I
get :
"Error 75: Path/File access error"

Legacy help tells me this re error 75:-
" Either log on as the Administrator, or go to the Control Panel and open User
Accounts and give the other account(s) Computer Administrator privileges. "
I have done this, and I see that I am already the Administrator.

When I try to uninstall Legacy 7.5 I get this message :
"Could not open INSTALL.LOG file

"When I try to open a fdb file, this is the message I get :
Error 3204: Database already exists.

I'd really appreciate some help with this please?
I have Legacy Deluxe.

Many thanks,
Jill
