Julia,

The Legacy file format defaults are such that the data files are stored in
the Legacy folder, which using Tony's set-up, would be in the Program files.
Vista and WIN 7 do not allow data files to be stored in the Programs Folder
so, as Tony says, if Legacy is in the Program Folder then they have to be
stored in the Documents Folder. This means quite a considerable alteration
to the default paths has to be made - OK for someone who knows what they are
doing.

The second point is that Legacy does not embed images in the data base but
stores the paths to the images, so using the recommended Legacy set-up they
would be in C:\Legacy\Pictures\. This is easily transferred to another
machine by installing the images in that location on that machine. If,
however, they are stored in the Documents Folder the path may well be
something like C:\Users\RonFergy\Documents\LegacyPictures\ i.e. a path which
may not exist on the new machine. Yes, this can be resolved, but again one
needs to know how.

Thus, for those who are not very familiar with the workings of Windows, it
can cause a number of problems in getting it to work correctly.

Ron, why is Tony's not the recommended method?

Thank you,
Julia
