Hi Jane. I'm not sure about a specific macro in Legacy, but the SEARCH and REPLACE feature is very powerful. For example, if you had put USA for all your locations in the United States and wished to change them all to United States (or UNITED STATES) instead of USA, you could go to SEARCH and REPLACE and enter:
Find where: Lists-Location Find what: , USA Replacement text: , UNITED STATES In addition to this, there are some powerful features within the Master Location List itself that others have already mentioned to you. One of the most powerful features is to SORT the divisions of the location names from RIGHT to LEFT or LEFT to RIGHT (or really by any criteria you choose because there is an up and down arrow there when you click on SORT that will make many errors and inconsistencies stick out like a sore thumb). Then you can more easily edit and also use the COMBINE feature for ones that really are duplicates and should be combined. What I would recommend is that you OPEN up the sample file that Legacy includes and experiment with that to your heart's content. That will show you how to do lots of changes with locations on a small database without messing anything up or getting confused. But you might want to RENAME the file something else before you begin because the way Legacy has designed the default - what you do will be automatically overwritten and you would lose the original SAMPLE file they ship with Legacy. Of course, with your own files you know it is VITAL that you always backup your file and work with a backup to make major changes first. I hope this helps.
