Marilyn, I always attached the image of every source to the Source Detail, largely because when I get a piece of new information which seems to conflict with my record I can easily, and quickly, refer back to the original image(s) from which I drew my conclusions.

On the SourceWriter field that asks for "ID of individual" I put "John Doe household". I do, however, include everyone in the household, whether servants, lodgers, visitors, etc. Sometimes these turn out to be family members, at which point I add them as individuals in my family file. I don't use "Census" Event either. I do use "Residence" event for everyone on the census, and if there is an occupation, I also do an "Occupation" event. I use the source clipboard to make it quick and easy.
