Don't delete the unwanted records from the GEDCOM file that you've been
sent - you may just want some of them one day.

Instead, import the file into Legacy and save it as a separate Legacy
file to your main database, and make changes to that. You can always
import the original GEDCOM file again later on if you need or want to.

I presume you already know who you want to keep from this file? There's
more than one way you can approach the task of separating them from the
others...

You could assign a tag to the ones you want to keep and export the
wanted to a new file.

Tag the unwanted records and delete them (advanced deleting).

Unlink the wanted from the unwanted, go to Tree Finder and tag the
unwanted trees, then delete them.

Lots of choices. Remember to work with a copy (which the imported file
will be) so you can go back if you need to.

Kind Regards,
Wendy
