Just to be safer. Inspect the final list or printout to confirm the DB is
exactly correct. The higher the quantity, the larger possibility to include or
not people.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Best way to create GEDCOM with no living people data?

Thanks to Ron Ferguson I have been reading about tagging and advanced tagging,
and I still do not understand what it is all about or how to do what I need.

Here is my goal.  I want to split my Legacy database starting with my paternal
grandfather, to include all of his ancestors and all descendants of his
ancestors.

Then I want to make a GEDCOM of just that branch of my family to upload to
FTDNA to submit to a surname project.

I am confident that this will guarantee that no information on living people
will be included.

Then once I have figured out how to do that i will be able to do the same thing
for each of my other three grandparents to be included for later mtDNA and
Family Finder matches.

Overall the most important thing to me is to be absolutely sure that no
information on any living people will be included in any of these GEDCOMs.

I did this many years ago with other genealogy programs, such as PAF, Brothers
Keeper and FTM, but it does not seem to be an easy thing to do in Legacy, and I
have not found any instructions on how to do it.

Can anyone help further?

Thank you.

one go (I tagged them using advanced tagging). On exporting you can select the
option to make the living invisible. Or you can set them as Private before
exporting, and “unprivate” them when you have done.
