Judith, Glad to hear that everything is now back to normal. Your experiences emphasise far more than an instruction book could, the importance of regularly doing PC housekeeping.
Often we see comments, or recommendations to switch the PC off, leave it for a short while, and switch on again in order to resolve a problem. I know because I make such suggestions myself! But it should also be taken as an indication that the PC is becoming full of garbage, and a good clean up is needed. I hope other users will take note. Do you use Firefox by any chance as the latest, and last few, versions eat up RAM. I would also run Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) immediately after start up to see if there are any clues there.
