You don't say HOW you are sharing. Does each computer use a different Dropbox account? When you are on the laptop, do you try to retrieve the file using a web browser? Or did you double-click the Dropbox icon on the taskbar and look for it in your 'My Dropbox' folder? The only thing I can think of is that Dropbox was still sync'ing when you looked. Or maybe you see it at home because you have LAN sync turned on?
