I am using my netbook right now with a laptop right on my shelf right next to me in arms reach. I also have a desktop within 10'. Legacy runs just fine on my netbook. I can go anywhere with it pretty easy. (bed, chair watching tv, kitchen table, bathroom <grin>, front porch, doctor, fhc...). Just grab it and run ! Easily take it on the go. It has a very small foot print, 10" X 7" X 3/4". You will make sure to keep your data synchronized. That has been talked about it until it was a dead horse. For me, I keep my data on my home network, one of my domains, and a cloud. When I was able to go to the FHL, I would take that from the mirofilm reader and take it to get films. That way no one can steal it. Sounds like you are going to repositories. Works great ! A word of caution, never leave it out of your sight. It is so small and a easy target for others. I don't know how the new mobile devices work for data entry.
