I used to use (brackets) around nicknames but found that too hard to maintain and conflicted when sent in a GedCom or transferred to other programs. I now use the Also Known As (AKA) field and find it works much better and shows up highlighted on the screen and can be included in reports. I usually use their correct birth name as the name and the nickname as the Also Known As but if they were never called by their actual name you can use the nickname as the name and the actual name as the AKA. Works great plus if there were several AKAs you can put them all in.
Not sure why you would want the commas though. Also it usually best not to enter the word County or CO. unless it is actually part of the name of the county such as in some parts of Ireland and a few other places. Bev. For some reason Legacy has removed the quotation marks around the second Sallie. Can I get them bck? (I don't think this is relevant but under "Report Options" I have a check mark in front of "Use quoted name for narrative.") Also, I don't want those ages to show,and I do want there to be commas after Jr., and VA. Any ideas?
