In a recent Legacy webinar about the FlipPal mobile scanner they showed how you
could write on a transparent sheet of glass (?) and lay that over the photo you
are scanning, then scan it once with the writing and once without. That allows
you to "write on" the photo with circles & arrows, etc., without damaging the
photo. I thought that was pretty cool. I think they sell you the
glass/plexiglass on their website...?

I am interested also. I have several albums of old photos of ancestors and
others. I am the only one left who can identify the people on the photographs
and it is becoming urgent for me to do so. I am reticent marking the original
photos. What is your recommendation? Thank you.
