There has to be an easier way than what you're doing. If it's only one file that's being changed you can remember it, but if it's more you're going to get confused, pretty much guaranteed.
If you're using Syncback then you know you can set up backup or sync profiles. All you need in the middle is an external HD to go from one to the other. What NOT to do is work on your desktop and then your laptop without syncing the files before you change computers. Another way to go at this is using SugarSync, free 5GB. (http://www.jgen.ws/sugarsync.php [referral link]) You do have to wait for the files to sync between computers before you switch computers.
