Thank you all for your guidance.  I have my family file put back together
and after spending about 6 hours of examining it for strange stuff, I'm
guessing that all is well again.  I ended up exporting just those items
that were changed After the time of the goof, then doing a normal merge.
I'm glad that I exported parents and children of those individuals that
were exported as some were common names that existed several times in my
data base.
Sure hope I'm smart enough to not get into this jackpot again.
