As to why: I wanted the folder in chronological order (as people lived) rather 
than alphabetical.



In another mail I wrote that I keep very few paper documents/pictures;  if I 
had lots of paper documents, throwing everything into one big box (like one big 
folder online) would be a disaster.

As a contrarian, would expect logical explanation for your choices so what are 
benefits of placing birth year first rather than surname?  My initial 
inclination is lastname.yyyy.firstname.yyyy.descriptor.  Do you use your system 
for both digital & paper filing?
