Sally, I realize I am coming to this thread late, but I use the format surname_givenname-maidenname-YYYY_recordtype_shortlocation.xxx Someone here suggested putting the maiden names between hyphens to help them stand out. Anyway, for an individual, all their files show up in date order, except that jump from an unmarried to a married woman.
The only exceptions are (1) census images and (2) photos of places.
