Have you actually personally seen MJM on so many tombstones? Back in the 40s and 50s when I was in Catholic grade school JMJ was used at the top of our school paper, on the blackboard, and on so many other things. It stood for Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. I wasn't into looking at tombstones at the time and, therfore, never saw it on one. Then again maybe I saw it and it was so common to me, I didn't see it.
