Dave - Can you download the driver for that specific plotter, make it your default printer, and print the file to that plotter instead of a PDF file? Your friend could then use that file to print the chart.
An alternative used in several of the other genealogy software programs for large charts is to use one of the free virtual PDF printers like CutePDF, Bullzip, PDF995. First you create your chart, make a note of the dimensions, save the chart (as a Legacy chart file) and exit the program. You then make the virtual PDF printer your default printer in Printers and Devices and set the paper size there before opening Legacy and printing the chart to that printer. CutePDF may have the largest paper size.
