That has not been my experience! For family reunions I often get large charts printed on 48 inch rolls that extend over 25 feet in length. After extensive trials we discovered that the best quality was obtained using JPGs and the company printing them preferred to work with JPGs. Both PDF and JPG quality is based on the amount of compression used. So any discussion about quality must reference the compression. PDFs will not handle the file sizes required for large charts unless they are highly compressed and then the quality degrades far below what is acceptable. JPG sizes don't seem to be limited. So for printing these charts I create JPGs with *no* compression. The file size is huge but so is memory stick capacity these days. Cheers! -- Dave N.
