Good to hear from you again, Gazza. I thought that you had abandoned Legacy because of its lack of consideration for those with visual impairments. This problem was first entered in Mantis, the Legacy bug list, in July of last year and was marked as a high priority. It was further updated in March of this year.
As somebody who has worked with people with various problems for over 20 years on a voluntary basis I am constantly amazed at the lack of consideration given by others to make simple changes which could really enhance the enjoyment of others. I am of the opinion that a delay of nearly a year in making this change is an absolute disgrace. Although I am one of those who feel that legislation on industry is usually less than helpful, this is an area where I feel governments may be forced to intervene unless companies accept that they do have a responsibility to make their products accessible. In the UK, at present, the only regulation means that Legacy comes into a class of products which should not be purchased by public bodies. This is insufficient, in my view, and if consulted by our government (as I sometimes am) on this aspect I will be pressing for further legislation for products sold in the UK, and Europe. Companies will only have themselves to blame for their own negligence. Sorry to go on for a bit, but I feel very strongly about this matter. At the moment many boxes and screens, including the Right Hand Census page, appear white and blank for the said users even tho' there is text contained in them. If TMG, Family Tree Maker and Roots Magic can do it surely Legacy can!
