Bernie, You can enclose the names he used in quotes in the first name field i.e John Edward Frederick *Fredrickā Smith. When creating reports etc. one can then opt to use only the name in quotes for the narratives and also remove the quoted name from printing.

For example: birth name is John Edward Frederick Smith. He is referred to as Frederick Smith in marriage record, census and/or death notice. Perhaps to distinguish him from his father John Edward Frederick Smith, called John. Something that would be apparent: John Edward Frederick Smith. John Edward Frederick Smith. John Edward Frederick Smith. etc. Thanks Bernie -- Bernie H Blog site http://haushornung.weebly.com/ Data site http://www3.telus.net/hornunghouse/ Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
