I think my problem has been solved. I have been trying to put .jpeg files when I should have been using text files. Thank you everyone for your help. Guy

It used to work ok once, but not any more. The computer is only 18 months old and quite powerful and no other problems. To overcome the problem I have been entering these notes into the "pictures" and it works ok, but would like to put them where they should go. The notes that I entered before the last few months, are still quite ok.
