Hello, Autumn. Quick tips, everyone's research needs are different so some may not apply. Be sure to look up the HOURS the library is open on days you will be there--if you can't find it online (I just tried), CALL and ask.
First priority, use resources you can't get at home -- that's probably BOOKS. IF you are a paper note-taker, use separate sheet for each resource; ignore this if you use your computer, of course. Also if you use paper, have one folder "Done For Now" of notes you won't look at again till you're home. Have some dollar bills for a copy card. Have a dime (or quarter?) for a locker. Security: Do Not Take A Purse To The Library: wear a belt pack for essentials. Many tables at FHL have inserts where you can lock your computer, but take a lightweight backpack or cross-body bag for your computer if you need it. If you have a notebook, etc., MARK EVERYTHING WITH YOUR NAME AND EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER. (Voice of experience.) Save a little time by taking your lunch and two or three snacks, leave them outside the lunchroom. (Snacks are to keep you alert. Apples, etc. There's a microwave in lunchroom, vending machines have juices, milk, peanuts, etc.) Five-minute walks outside are another good stimulant. For a long day in bright light, do you want a visor and eyedrops? Enjoy the library -- I *LOVE* it there.
