Cracked it! A bit more reading in the Help Files reveals that you need to select the option to generate Married Names on the Marriage Information screen. (If you just look at the Help relating to Options for Index View it doesn't make this clear.) If you select that option for one person's marriage you then have the option to have it as the default for all future marriages you enter.
