I would just like to add a tip about the location of multimedia files when
using two computers, regardless of the method to 'duplicate' the data files
(fdb et al) across the desktop and laptop.

The multimedia files must be in 'identical' locations on both computers. The
links in Legacy (as I believe in most other programs) are static, that is it is
the full path right from drive name all the way down to file name that is used.
Generally speaking, this means that your multimedia files should not be stored
under your user profile (i.e. My Pictures, My Documents) as the full path to
these folders is often different on two computers.

When I had two computers (don't anymore) I had a C:\Genealogy folder on both
computers and all genealogy related multimedia was there, including both items
linked to Legacy and not linked to Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Best way to keep my laptop current.

Hello,
My main Legacy "working" database is on my desktop and I restore a backup to
keep my laptop current.
Aside from Media files, I could also transfer the just the .fdb file between my
two computers.
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to restoring a backup to my laptop, as
opposed to just copy/past the .fdb file between the two, which seems easier?

  Thank you,
  Brian Lehman
