I have to agree with Paul. The multimedia is best stored in a fixed folder on each hard drive that will be the same regardless of Windows version or user directory structures. One thing that I have used for some time is a root level folder for each collaborator that collects multimedia. That way, each collaborator can structure their collection any way they wish without walking over what the other collaborators are doing. So I have folders as follows: C:\GladeMM, C:\GordonMM, C:\RonMM, C:\EileenMM, etc. The MM reminds me that the folder contains multimedia. When the multimedia backup zip file is unzipped, the "Extract All Files" is always pointed to C:\ and then the existing paths to each file are restored to the Windows hard drive in the same relative structure they had at the time they were backed up. Once the data files are restored by Legacy using Restore Family File, the multimedia will be correctly linked. Ron Taylor

I would just like to add a tip about the location of multimedia files when using two computers, regardless of the method to 'duplicate' the data files (fdb et al) across the desktop and laptop. The multimedia files must be in 'identical' locations on both computers. The links in Legacy (as I believe in most other programs) are static, that is it is the full path right from drive name all the way down to file name that is used. Generally speaking, this means that your multimedia files should not be stored under your user profile (i.e. My Pictures, My Documents) as the full path to these folders is often different on two computers. When I had two computers (don't anymore) I had a C:\Genealogy folder on both computers and all genealogy related multimedia was there, including both items linked to Legacy and not linked to Legacy. Hello, My main Legacy "working" database is on my desktop and I restore a backup to keep my laptop current. Aside from Media files, I could also transfer the just the .fdb file between my two computers. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to restoring a backup to my laptop, as opposed to just copy/past the .fdb file between the two, which seems easier?
