FIXED

Cathy,
Fantastic!
That is what I needed to do.
I turned on the * and Bold options in Options 3.8 like you said.
The next step confused me for a time until I set myself as the Direct Line in
Tools/Set Direct Line

Now my "problem" generations show both of my ancestor-siblings in Bold and one
is Preferred *

Thank you. My navigation just got easier.

 Hi Moe,

There is no way to mark 2 children in a family as
 preferred.

Check out the Options to turn on the preferred child
 symbol.
 Options > Customise 3.8

At the same option also turn on indicate direct line
 children in bold.

Then only one with have the asterisk but both will be bolded
 if you
set your direct line (Tools Ribbon)

Remember you can set direct line from all sorts of people in
 your
file to set the preferred child in those branches but always
 come
back and set your own again so that yours takes precedence
 when they cross.
