I looked at this on the Index Tab with the User ID column added and set as the sort/search option.
The sort being applied to the User ID field is a character sort rather than a numeric sort. So the order will be 1, 10, … 19, 100, … 199, 1000, … 1999, until all the first digit 1’s are exhausted, then 2, 20 ..29, 200 … 299, etc As it is currently programmed, you would need to put leading zeros on your ahnentafel numbers to get them to sort as you want. Probably not an easy task if you have a lot of them and/or a deep tree. (ie, 1 might need to be 0000000001) Probably easiest to just understand how the sort is working. A suggested enhancement for the program would be to have an option for a numeric sort on User ID. Would be a bit tricky if there were some non-numeric values in the field. Might be easier to have a separate Ahnentafel field and a Set Ahnentafel function (similar to Set Relations and Set Direct Line Preferred and Set Ancestor Colors). However, when I sort by User ID, the numbers I have entered are Not in numerical order, and so my names are not sorted at all really, they are simply collected together. I am using my User ID field to record the appropriate Ahnentafel number of each of my direct line So I have two questions: For those who use the User ID - do you predominantly use numbers or letters or a combination of both For the developers - how is the User ID field sorted please?
