I further complication is the settings files in each user's My Documents folder. Those settings would have to be sync'ed and identical or you could have settings reset as was reported earlier when someone was sharing a file in Dropbox, I believe. AND, it is not possible to have those settings be shared, as I explained in an earlier post.

Your idea is great, but you are about to create all kinds of problems - the technology is not quite ready for what you want to do.
The first problem you may not be aware of is you cannot / do not try / to open the same Legacy file/database at the same time using 2 different computers. You need a Networked version of Legacy, which doesn't exit. The basic problem is two people cannot be editing the same record or changing the database at the same time. Record locking is required in order to keep the database from being corrupted.
To share the file is fine, but each user will need to download the Legacy DB that you placed on Google drive to their own computer. they can then install Legacy on their own computer and look / edit / change your database file on their computer. All the changes will be on their computer. They would need to upload their changed file back to a Cloud server (Google Drive or elsewhere). This method does not provide any syncing of the file which I think you are trying to do.
Dropbox will do the syncing if everyone uses the say ID & PW (Not recommended), and you still have the problem that only 1 computer can access / change the file in DropBox at the same time.
Legacy does offer merging of databases. You could merge multiple people's databases.
This is a complicated process you are trying to do. Good idea, but hard to implement with today's technology.

- My goal is to have a database (.fdb) on the cloud which cousins around the country/world can view/input/edit. I have put the data file (.fdb and associated files) on Google Drive. Since I have the Drive App downloaded to my pc (which makes Google Drive appear as a drive on my pc) I can open Legacy 8 then open the file Loftus.fdb on my Google Drive and it works fine from home and also works from my girlfriends pc in which Iâve done the same thing. But this works because I have the same Google Drive account.

- Iâve asked several relatives around the country to download Legacy 8. Iâve âsharedâ (gave view/edit permissions) to them on the Genealogy folder  on Google Drive. This has sent a link via email to them to the folder on Google Drive.Â

- But how do they navigate to the Loftus.fdb file from their copy of Legacy 8 so we all are using/viewing/editing the same copy of the Loftus.fdb file? Has anyone done this?

- The link they receive does take them to my Google Drive and to the database file. But itâs not being accessed by Legacy only their file manager.. My suspicion is that first they will need to download the Googe Drive app which creates a virtual drive (of Google Drive) on their pc. But this is a drive of âtheirâ Google Drive account. Then, somehow, they need to access the database file which is on my Google Drive.Â
