I have thus far avoided Windows 8 but perhaps this will help ... In the Windows Control Panel, there is a section there called Region and Language where you can set the Windows 7 Short Date format to what you like. I have mine set to "YYYY-MM-DD" as that is the way I generally like it for all I do on all my computers.
Except Legacy ... I like my Legacy display as "MMM DD, YYYY" as most people who look at the file and reports prefer that format. I also liked previous Legacy's understanding my input as "MM DD YYYY" because most of the published data is either as "MMM DD, YYYY" or "MM DD YYYY". With Legacy 8, I now have to do a mental translation of what I'm seeing in sources before entering anything in my file. C.G. Thank you for responding. I have more problems as I just got a new computer for my genealogy and it's Win 8. I need to learn that too. The setting for your computer can be seen in the System Tray with the clock and can be changed in Regional Settings. The display can be anything you like but the input order has to be the same as the computer setting. In 7.5 this is written above the option where you set the input order. Are you saying that you could use a different order to the computer setting?
