Hi Dave,

You shouldn't need to be relinking files manually if by that you mean
that you add them again. That would only work if you removed the old
broken link and then made the new one - or do you mean you are using
the dialogue from the broken link and the option to find the file
yourself? That really is the long way to go about fixing media links.

Provided the media hasn't been renamed and is on the computer, Legacy
can find it with the Media Relinker Tool. Where you have more than
one copy of the same media, you need to tell Legacy which one to use.
It may be slow but it is certain. If when you identify a correct file
and use the option to link to this and others in the same folder, you
don't need to do them one by one.

It sounds as if you have moved the media from where it was for Legacy
7 to sub-folders of the new default Media Folder at Documents/Legacy
Family Tree/Media.

One possibility
Since this is a user folder, if you log on to your computer with
different logons, the media will only be there for the logon you were
using when you copied it. I know some people have an Administrator
logon and a User without Admin rights logon. If that's the case you
need to keep your media and your Legacy data outside of the user
files so that both logons can access it. The settings files:
Documents/Legacy Family Tree/_AppData cannot be moved so to have the
same settings you'd need to copy it. Otherwise make sure you only use
Legacy when logged in from the same user name.

Second possiblity
Is it possible that you are opening different copies of your family
file each day? You might check that you only have one copy of each
family file you use and that any other copy has a distinctive name.
If you only use one file, as I do for my own genealogy, you can set
the option at Options > Customise 1.2 to always open the last used
file. Otherwise set this to always open your main family file.

I can't think of anything else that would make media files or their
links disappear.
